Junior Catherine Novak scored 5 goals and made 1 assist, while sophomore Sara Angel made 2 goals and 1 assist. All-state senior Jessica Chukwu scored 2 goals, with seniors Emma Folz and Julia Smith adding one apiece.
"Our defense is really stepping it up all over the field, and our offense is coming together and putting the ball in the back of the net," said Speth.
Boys lacrosse suffered a tough 9-2 loss last Saturday against powerhouse Lyons. Senior captain Troy Clesen scored both Evanston goals.
Earlier in the week, however, the Kits had claimed an impressive 14-4 win against Deerfield, with sophomore Tyler Hall scoring 3 times.

LAndler Homers Twice But ETHSSoftball Loses Doubleheader
Some individual sparks glow despite Kits' disappointing losses
Saturday.

With sectional seedings looming around the corner, there was a lot on the line going into last Saturday's doubleheader against Ridgewood.
Senior third baseman Kaitlin Andler provided an offensive spark, and the Kits gave glimpses of their potential, but in the end, the Ridgewood bats proved too powerful.
After a four run first inning in which they surrendered three doubles, Evanston looked flustered. One highlight of the game was a third-inning rally, capped off by Andler's first homer of the afternoon, clearing the center field fence. Ridgewood's bats continued to do all the work, and Evanston lost the first game, by a score of 4-16.
The Kits controlled the flow of game two, taking a 3-2 lead in the third inning behind another Andler home run, this time going the opposite way as the right fielder hopelessly watched it soar over her head. Everything looked to be going Evanston's way until Ridgewood took the lead for good in the fifth inning behind a two-run blast, running away with it 4-3.
"The main focus right now is hitting and helping each other out," said head coach Amanda Carlson. "We need to get some runs on the board each game."
Despite the disappointing afternoon, junior pitcher Alison Ehrensaft showed how invaluable her presence really is. The day before, she pitched a no-hitter against Mather as the Kits rolled to an impressive 12-0 win. She also started game two of the doubleheader, throwing a complete game.
"Our defense has a lot more confidence when Allie's on the mound," said Carlson of Ehrensaft. "They know that there won't be really hard, line-drive hits. There's going to be pop-ups because she knows how to throw the balls to batters ... she has six different pitches."
With a conference game scheduled for tomorrow against Niles West, the team is putting a big emphasis on hitting.
"Once you get one hit it's contagious," said Andler. "Everybody
starts hitting after one person gets a hit. It's all mental, and
I think if our bats get going, it can really take the wind out of the
other team."
