Self - the Sixth Sense
Nothing fills life with more wonder than our five senses. Each of them is a theme park of adventure and discovery. Separate and interactive, they not only make life worth living but also, each in its own way, enriches it beyond belief. Yet many tend to take them for granted, to let them “do their thing” and rarely take time to consciously appreciate their complexities as well as their priceless gifts.

Editorial: We Oppose SB1, It Is Inequitable and Will Severely Harm School Districts 65 and 202
Illinois’ system of funding education is broken. But it is not broken because many school districts, such as School Districts 65 and 202, have been paying high property taxes to fund their schools. It is broken because the State legislature has shirked its responsibility under the Illinois Constitution to adequately fund education.

Editorial: We Urge the D202 Board to Set High Expectations in Defining 'College Readiness'
One key question is whether the Board will aim at preparing students to obtain a C or to obtain a B or higher in freshman year of college. This decision should be made in the context of grading practices in four-year colleges, where 77% of the grades given are As and Bs. We encourage the Board to aim at preparing students to do at least B-level work in college.
