Boltwood - the Restaurant, Not the School - Opens with Farm-to-Table Cuisine
John Kim’s newest Evanston business brings a local connection that many Evanston residents should recognize. On June 12, Mr. Kim along with Chicago chef and Evanston native Brian Huston, opened Boltwood, a restaurant that serves farm-to-table, eclectic American cuisine. Named for Henry Boltwood, the first principal of Evanston Township High School, the restaurant opened in the space that Pan-Asian restaurant LuLu’s, an Evanston staple for 21 years, vacated when it closed in February.

Grant for Meals At Home
Meals at Home announces that it has received a $5,000 grant from the Hillshire Brands Foundation. The funds will be used to support the home delivery of nutritious meals to individuals who cannot prepare their own meals.

It's Thursday, Let's Dance!

Now in its 15th year, It’s Thursday, Let’s Dance! will offer free dancing in downtown Evanston in its new location at the 1603 Orrington Ave. plaza. Dance instruction by Blaze the Floor Dance will be offered each week from 6 to 6:45 p.m., followed by live music and dancing from 7 to 9 p.m.

In 1952 Winifred Guthrie Anderson was named the first winner of the North End Mothers’ Club Senior Girl’s Honor Award, and she went on to leave an indelible imprint on the fields of early childhood development and special education, especially with regard to inclusion of young children with disabilities with their more typically developing peers.
