Mastering Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol' - For the 10th Time
Change is integral to Chicago’s favorite production of Charles Dickens’ celebration of the human capacity for change. Evanston resident Malcolm Ruhl, in the midst of his 10th season as music director of the Goodman Theatre’s “A Christmas Carol,” has a director and actor’s perspective on the role of change in theater and this play in particular.

Evanston Resident Honored at White House
Twenty-year Evanston resident Marilyn Halperin founded the CPS Shakespeare! program nine years ago in her position as Chicago Shakespeare’s Director of Education, and less than 20 days ago she accepted an award from First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House on behalf of the program.

EPL, EHC Commemorate World War I
This December marks not only the 100-year anniversary of World War I’s Christmas Truce, but also the fourth month in Evanston Public Library’s year of programming designed to engage with the history of World War I and its place in today’s world a century later. The Library and the Evanston History Center collaborate to screen films, host speakers and discuss books that pertain to the Great War.

Themed “Creating a Better World for Children: Women Leading the Way,” the event highlighted the special contributions of women overseas and the United States to help children living in extreme poverty.
