The Evanston History Center and Design Evanston are jumping on the sesquicentennial bandwagon with books about Evanston architecture.
EHC has published a new edition of Margery Blair Perkins’ classic book “Evanstoniana” under the title “Evanston: A Tour Through the City’s History.” The book, according to EHC, “updates [Ms.] Perkins’ classic history in honor of Evanston’s 150th anniversary.
Design Evanston will launch its book “Evanston: 150 Years, 150 Places” later this month. The book catalogues 150 architecturally significant places in Evanston, many of which still exist. According to Design Evanston, its book committee “gathered nominations from professionals and lay people throughout the Evanston community ... and worked for nearly two years to catalog selections, gather photographs, research information, write text and design the book.”
