The 2012 Faces of Evanston Photography and Video Contest, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Evanston, drew a record number of entries, with over 200 adults and teens working to capture the essence of Evanston in a photo or video.

The winning entries were unveiled on Sept. 27 at a reception at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center. This year two interns, Tyler Kenzek and Zena Grant-Sosa, worked throughout the summer to make the entries and the contest itself accessible to Evanston youth.

Dr. Stamata Blanas, who developed the concept of the contest said, “Having the interns was a great opportunity to engage them with the community, build their self confidence and help them set realistic job goals.”

The winning photos will be displayed throughout the City through August, 2013. The display will begin its tour at First Bank & Trust, 2925 Central St., the first week of October. All the photographs may be seen at the Faces of Evanston page on Facebook or www.facesofevanston.com.

Now in its eighth year, Faces of Evanston engages the arts and embraces the creative diversity offered by the City of Evanston. Its primary focus is to build community, to bring people together and to give all a sense of belonging.
