Block for 3rd Ward
We need fresh dynamic leadership and ideas here in Evanston, and no one represents that better than Alex Block, 3rd Ward candidate. He has demonstrated this at the public forums where his performance has been impressive and the best of the candidates.
I recommend that everyone hear him talk. Check out his videos and the forums at alexblock.org or on Facebook at /AlexBlockForEvanston. Once you hear him you will understand what a great asset to Evanston he is. He has charisma and shows attributes of a great leader. Further, his understanding of the issues that Evanston faces are profound and he confronts them head on. From protecting our lakefront, to housing equity, high taxation and public school support, A. Block deserves our support.
If you want someone to represent you who is highly motivated to respond and support you in the 3rd Ward, Alex Block is your candidate.

Wynne for 3rd Ward
I’m with her. Melissa Wynne embodies the integrity and compassion that characterize our 3rd Ward community. Her competent leadership has moved Evanston closer to our best potential. As a life-long 3rd Ward resident who attended and sent my kids to Lincoln, Nichols and ETHS, I wholeheartedly endorse her re-election campaign.
I join Mayor Tisdahl and five aldermen endorsing Melissa. These are the local officials who know her best and the endorsements that matter the most! They don’t always agree on every issue, but her colleagues respect her clear-minded resolve to meet the critical challenges facing our community. They often cite Melissa’s tough smarts and independence for me, her trusted advocacy for affordable housing, against gun violence, and for creating economic opportunity for all is most impressive.
Melissa has masterfully balanced economic development and supporting our progressive community. While courting businesses like Trader Joe’s, Few Spirits, Union-Space, Sketchbook Brewing, Hoosier Mama and the first net-zero emissions Walgreens, Melissa was steadfast on behalf of neighbors’ parking, noise, and traffic concerns.
My wife Katie’s experience sums up best Melissa’s commitment to her constituents’ best interests: “As a daughter of an elderly parent and local pediatrician in the community clinic, I’ve often called Melissa for help. Every time, she called me back within 24 hours and helped me connect with the appropriate City staff. She’s always been immediately responsive and resolved our issues to the end.”
There are good people running for 3rd Ward Alderman and knowledgeable and engaged Evanston families supporting each candidate. Nonetheless, Alderman Wynne’s record of service and positive impact over the years wins my vote. I hope you will join me, my four daughters ages 18-25, and my wife, Katie, in supporting Melissa on April 4th. We’re with her.
Thank you, RoundTable, for existing and to your staff in this election season.

> I am an enthusiastic supporter of Alderman Melissa Wynne and believe she deserves our vote on April 4th. Her knowledge and experience cannot be matched. Her accomplishments, particularly in improving the Chicago avenue corridor, while at the same time preserving the residential neighborhoods that abut it, speak for itself. (And I know about this firsthand, as I live directly behind Trader Joe's and couldn't be more pleased with the outcome of that development. She worked tirelessly with us to improve the condition of the alley that we share with TJs and to get the developer to install various soundproofing measures and limit delivery hours.) What would our property taxes look like without the renewed development and revenue from Chicago Avenue businesses? Further, Alderman Wynne understands that real leadership means making hard choices. I would urge all of you trying to decide who to vote for to examine her positions on property taxes, the referendum and economic development. She tells it like it is, not what she thinks you want to hear.

From her first year on the Evanston City Council, I have found Mellissa Wynne to be easily accessible, a good listener, open with her own ideas, and eager to help. As a youth worker and agency director for over forty years, I know Melissa to be a strong advocate for those who are most vulnerable in our community. Melissa understands that high quality services have to be paid for, and therefore she has been the leader in building our tax base with housing and business developments along Chicago Avenue that enhance the quality of life for all of us. In a year when Evanston will elect a new mayor and at least three -- and theoretically as many as six -- new members of the nine-person City Council, Melissa’s twenty years of thoughtful and effective experience on the Council offer much needed continuity. As a 17-year resident of the third Ward, I enthusiastically endorse her.

I have been a resident of the 3rd Ward for fifteen years, and have resided on the 700 block of Hinman for the last 8 years. When I purchased my condo 8 years ago, this SE Evanston community was quiet with plenty of street parking and a lovely neighborhood -- which was why I moved here. From the demolition of the buildings on Chicago to make way for AMLI, and all the headaches that came with that project,as a property owner adjacent to the property, together with the increased foot traffic and automobile traffic, our neighborhood now resembles the Lincoln Park I left some years ago. Many residents walk dogs and walk with their young children and crossing the intersections has gotten very dangerous from all this new activity.

As the head of the Hinman Neighborhood Watch Group, which was formed a couple of years ago by residents to deal with neighborhood crime and the increased car speeds down Hinman as a result of poor planning on Chicago Avenue, I feel our neighborhood has been directly effected by these new developments, including the building on Main and Chicago, and do not believe there was any forward thinking plan for this corridor prior to these new developments.

Alex Block is concerned about the community, and believes proper city planning before new developments is necessary to provide adequate services for residents, and he has a "vision" that is greatly needed for Evanston.

I believe Alex will represent our community in the very best way and will combine that representation with youth, enthusiasm and dedication.

Please check out his website, alexblock.org, and you will understand why he is running and you, too, will agree he is a logical choice for our 3rd Ward.
