Tracy Quattrocki, president of the District 65 School Board, said the Board expects to start the process of hiring a permanent superintendent in mid-September. Members of the Board plan to meet with representatives of the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) to discuss best practices to use in the search. One thing Board members emphasized at their Aug. 19 meeting was that they intend to engage the entire community in the process.
In a prepared statement, Ms. Quattrocki said, "We know that the Board represents all stakeholders in Evanston/Skokie School District 65, and we will work hard to ensure that the community will have ample opportunity to provide input into the process before a superintendent is hired to serve our District for the next generation of students."
The School Board had recently begun the process of developing a strategic plan that would guide the District over the next three to five years. At the Aug. 19 Board meeting, Board members appeared to concur that the District would not go through the full process of developing a strategic plan until a permanent superintendent is retained. They said, though, that they would like to engage in a "visioning" process that might help guide their search for a new superintendent. They will discuss this in more detail after meeting with ISBE.
