Structure Fire at 1939 Jackson


On Sept. 19 at approximately 3:22 p.m., Evanston Fire & Life Safety Services fire companies responded to a call there was a fire at 1939 Jackson Ave., a two story frame residential house. 

First arriving fire companies reported heavy smoke showing on the north side of the house and upon entering found heavy smoke and fire in the second floor bedroom of the house. 

The alarm was immediately upgraded to an MABAS Box Alarm to the first level; bringing fire companies from MABAS Division 3 to assist. Fire companies conducted a quick primary search of the residence simultaneously with a fast fire attack and extinguished the fire; which had extended to the attic space. The fire was confined to the second floor. 

The occupants of both units had evacuated prior to fire personnel arrival. Two families were displaced and as a result of the fire, the Red Cross will be assisting them. No injuries were reported report for the occupants or fire personnel. 

The MABAS Box was struck at4:09 p.m.
