On July 13, the south parking lot of Evanston Township High School became the temporary repository of unwanted electronics and no-longer-need documents. The Solid Waste Agency of Cook County and the City of Evanston held a combined electronics recycling/document shredding event. Residents of participating SWANCC communities recycled televisions, computer monitors, cell phones, PCs and laptop computers, VHS and DVD players, printers, scanners, DVR/cable boxes, fax machines and the like. Evanston residents were able to shred up to five banker’s boxes of paper documents.
Cars lined up on Dodge Avenue then turned west onto Lake Street and then into the parking lot, where volunteers unloaded and stacked the items for the next leg of their recycling journey.
