Armed Robbery Attempt at Davis and Darrow

On June 11 at approximately 7:50 a.m., Evanston Police responded to an armed robbery attempt near the intersection of Davis Street and Darrow Avenue. An Evanston resident, age 54, had just dropped his son off at Evanston Township High School for finals and while on his way back home was confronted by a subject who blocked the intersection. When the man stopped his vehicle, the offender reached in through the driver’s side window and grabbed the steering wheel and gear shift. The offender displayed what appeared to be a box cutter type knife and demanded the victim’s money, said Commander Parrott of the Evanston Police Department.

The victim was cut by the offender in the left arm, right hand and head after which the offender fled on foot from the scene, said the Commander. The offender was unsuccessful in obtaining proceeds from the victim. The victim was taken to Evanston North Shore University Hospital for treatment by Evanston Fire paramedics in good condition.

Police detectives are actively investigating this incident and in the process of reviewing area surveillance cameras to assist in the investigation in addition to interviewing several witnesses, said Commander Parrott.
